The Friday Digest: Hello! Decency

Not that I’m particularly enamoured by either of the two magazines in general, but as someone once said to me, ‘a little bit of class goes a long way’. As such, Hello! has at least retained some credibility in its editorial decisions as far as I’m concerned.

Of course, there is a lot more going on in the world than I’m aware of right now, but when the clock is ticking, and you have to get a train in 40 minutes to go to Cardiff fora stag do, it’s a little bit hard to type, let me assure you.

And of course, Mr Murray will continue the great British tradition of torturing the public in trying to get past Andy Roddick later. As you read this, you might find that’s already happened and Andy beat the North American in straight sets….Hey, I might as well go out on a limb eh? Good luck to both of them anyway. I’ll be cheering for Murray – from my train seat – partly because I’m British, but mostly because I’m a quarter Scottish. Hey, that’s a national identitity debate the papers can have eh?

Right, I hope you all have an enjoyable, if not relaxing weekend. Try not to be swept up in the panic of over Swine Flu, and most of all, just try to be a bit considerate and thoughtful to other people maybe. I saw a cyclist nearly killed by a truck in London yesterday, and all that happened was that both the truck driver and cyclist shouted at each other – not an apology or even an ‘are you alright?’ from the truck driver (who in my mind was in the wrong), and that really shocked me. It was enough to make me realise that occasionally we all (me included) act in an unrepresentative way of who we are. More than that, we forget that we’re just one person, like others, trying to get on.

Anyway, enough of that. Take it easy!
