There’s a YouTube Pick of The Week straight after this commentary, so you can either skip straight there or read the following, which is related to the song I’ve chosen this week…but probably not inthe way that you’re assuming. Anyway, onward!

YouTube Pick of The Week – ‘Intro’ by The XX

without comments

Two posts in one day? I know. Crikey. Man alive my analytics are going to go haywire, but psshaw I say! psshaw!

Hope you enjoy this. For reasons best categorised under ‘random machinations of Kevin’s brain’, this track, the first off The XX excellent album ‘X’, will be forever linked for me with the UK General Election 2010. It’s probably to do with a certain channel’s political coverage that, but anyway, it’s an excellent track. Press Play. Enjoy. Simple as that.

(Awesome lyrics as well as video by the way):

your card’s on the table
and the cat’s in the cradle
and your heart’s been skipping like a jumping bean
brain’s been waking in the sixth degrees

your time’s on the table
and you’re young fit and able
and your love’s been aching like an acorn tree
take a spin around oh one two three

it’s easy to blame chaos on the ones with cloaks and daggers who
push the hidden hands that hold the strings of ultimate control
when you ain’t got love

time’s ticking tables and the new towers of babel
and your heart’s been kicking in the sixth degrees
take a look around from one to see
it’s a blue sky december
it’s your turn to remember
oh your brain’s been bursting from the broken seams
take a spin around oh one two three

it’s easy to blame chaos on the ones with cloaks and daggers who
push the hidden hands that hold the strings of ultimate control
when you ain’t got love

it’s the turn of the saviors
it’s an all natural favor
and the band’s been kicking in the old kick drum
words can trickle when you start to run
and my heart’s been tazered
and my brain’s been phazered
and my feet’s been skipping like jumping beans
take a spin around oh one to sees

it’s easy to blame chaos on the ones with cloaks and daggers who
push the hidden hands that hold the strings of ultimate control
when you ain’t got love
