Adidas Advert Revisited (or, how I was wrong)

I was congratulating myself this morning because if you type into Google ‘Adidas advert music’ or ‘Adidas Advert Beggin’, the post I made a couple of days ago is on the front page of results. Well done me etc etc, Except, my post that starts “you know that Adidas advert?” is actually wrong. I was wrong. There, I said it. The track used in the advert is Beggin’ but, actually, it’s not Madcon’s version is it? No, no. As good as the Madcon version is, the track used  it’s a remix (not a cover) of Valli’s original version, by Pilooski and heard and seen below:

The weird thing is I skipped over that when looking for Valli singing the ‘original’ and put it down as some weird remixed YouTube effort. Woe is my investigative integrity etc. Anyhow, mistake corrected. I just hope this post gets higher in those search results!

D’oh!

P.S: If a Google search has brought you to my site (because alot of them seem to), thanks very much for stopping by. You’ve made my day because it shows I’m putting up some stuff which tends to get people interested. Take it easy.

Your Friendly Musical Magpie

Have you seen that Adidas advert? Ok, this one:

Wondered what music it is?  It’s Madcon’s remix of Frankie Valli’s Beggin, off of Madcon’s  So Dark The Con of Man album (available from Amazon as an mp3 album [no DRM] for only £4.99 incidentally). Here it is but you might also want to check out Liar and Back On The Road both of which are pretty fresh:

But if you want to listen to the original by Mr Valli instead, I’d suggest going to

Ok, ok, it’s ice skating, but that is Mr Valli singing it I believe.

So there you have it, YouTube knows all…clearly, but what’s most important here is the development of the song/lyrics and the changing of context. Really interesting I reckon.
