So, it’s been a while…might be a while longer before I post anything of note here, but in the meantime have this.

Your Friendly Musical Magpie

Have you seen that Adidas advert? Ok, this one:

Wondered what music it is?  It’s Madcon’s remix of Frankie Valli’s Beggin, off of Madcon’s  So Dark The Con of Man album (available from Amazon as an mp3 album [no DRM] for only £4.99 incidentally). Here it is but you might also want to check out Liar and Back On The Road both of which are pretty fresh:

But if you want to listen to the original by Mr Valli instead, I’d suggest going to

Ok, ok, it’s ice skating, but that is Mr Valli singing it I believe.

So there you have it, YouTube knows all…clearly, but what’s most important here is the development of the song/lyrics and the changing of context. Really interesting I reckon.

Who’s Not Lost?

without comments

I love a bit of Lost Prophets. Perhaps it’s the fact that the Welsh Nu-Metal outfit hit the scene at the height of my awkward, teenage angst-ridden years (not that there was much angst at all), or perhaps it’s just because I love a good rock-out every now and then. Whatever the reason, I’ve spent much of today listening to Lost Prophets’ tracks on YouTube (because www.Deezer.com [incidentally, good for parties] doesn’t have any of the albums) and came across the band’s biggest ever hit – mainly because it’s the best song they’ve ever written, and in spite of the fact they’re still together they’ll never surpass it (that’s a fact, but only in my opinion).

Anyway, ladies and gentleman visiting my humble ablogode, here it is for your listening pleasure. (N.B: As good as it is, this song is actually a lot longer than it needs to be . If someone in the studio cut out the middle, the slice of genius represented by the track pre- 0:56  and post-2:28 would be more exponentially more efficient as a classic track ;)
