And…relax

No, not some dodgy ‘adult-movie’ related thing, but just a post about doing not alot. This weekend will be being used for doing nothing – because that might lead to doing something, who knows.

Anyhow, you’ve probably noticed that the background has changed once more, and it’s changed to a shot of the Irish Sea, taken from the parade at Aberysywyth. I fancied a bit of a(sea-change *cough*) calming influence earlier on in the week, so that was the shot I chose to go with. I’m hoping it isn’t taking too long for people to load up, as I know the file is still a little big despite my attempts to work image editing magic on it. As usual the picture can be seen without my writing blocking half of it at my flickr stream here and I might upload the rest at some point.

So that’s it for today. I might well spend the weekend thinking of ideas for my Bridport Prize entry this year, and kicking around ideas for Den of Geek. But I’ve nothing planned on that front. Usually though, that’s when the best plans appear.

Have a good one, whatever you’re doing, kev.

P.S: I’ve just noticed that the picture link to the MCV story two posts below was broken. If you’re still (or ever was) inclined to check it, the picture can now be clicked on, or you can just go here.

Fully Connected

A few of you have probably noticed that I’m not on Twitter. In fact a fair few of you know that this site is even here indeed because I’m on Twitter, but anywho, the point is I’m now on Flickr as well. Well, when  I say ‘I’m’ I mean the site, and when I say ‘the site’, I mean the ‘wallpapers’. For a little while now I’ve been changing the wallpaper of the site by simply resizing and dropping inhto the right place a new photo that I’ve taken on my trusty digital camera.

The only problem with this is that, as many of you have no doubt noticed, the quality of those images isn’t great. Partly it doesn’t really matter, but that was never the intention. I didn’t mean them to look pixellated, though of course I could say that I did and that it symbolises my own pixellated view of the world as represented by my perpetual commentary and the importance of the site in that. That’s a load of old bull though, because it’s not true. The images are pixellated because I don’t have (i) a very good knowledge of image resizing and compression yet or, (ii) any image editor other than GIMP, which doesn’t exactly do a great job.

Now, while I might well invest in something like Photoshop Elements for personal use, I’m certainly not going to at the moment (there’s a crunch on you know) and that brings me back to my Flickr stream (I actually wrote ‘Twitter’ then, not that I’m obsessed or anything). So, from now you’ll be able to find all the images I use for my wallpapers there (www.flickr.com/kevinpocock) if you’re interested. When I change them I’ll write a little note about what they are and why I’ve chosen them and remind you of the link. I might even put up all of the shots I’ve used in the past, though I doubt it because I think they got deleted when I updated wordpress. Gah.

Anyway, that’s that.

In other news, I’ve emailed the Susijn Agency about NiBS (my non-fiction book) and found out that they’re situated no more than two roads away from my office; I saw Alex Zane walking down Charing Cross road post-work on the Xfm breakfast show, two hours after he woke me up with said Xfm breakfast show. I nearly said ‘Hey, good show’ but he was talking to his phone…or to someone on it – it’s hard to tell from how he was holding it. Anyway, that’s that.

P.S: If you’re uber quick and get to my flickr before I get a chance to update it, you’ll see some work by a friend of mine, and a talented artist, Ben Slow. He’s part of The Wonderand Collective now, but more on that at a later date.  Take it easy ok.
